Tour Plan

Day 1: Departure to El Minya & Visit Tuna El Gabal

  • Morning Departure: Your personal Egyptologist will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo in the morning. Enjoy a comfortable, 4-hour drive in a private deluxe air-conditioned vehicle to El Minya.
  • Arrival in El Minya: Upon arrival, begin your tour by visiting the ancient plain where Pharaoh Akhenaton was inspired to build his city of Akhetaten (modern-day Amarna). This was the center of his religious reforms and the birth of monotheism in Egypt.
  • Lunch: Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in El Minya.
  • Tuna El Gabal: After lunch, continue your visit to Tuna El Gabal, an ancient archaeological site. This area served as a necropolis for the ancient city of Hermopolis and as a worship center for the god Thoth, the deity of wisdom. Visit the tomb of Petosiris, a priest of Thoth, which is one of the most famous tombs in the area.
  • Overnight: After a full day of exploration, you will be transferred to your 5-star hotel in El Minya for check-in and overnight rest.

Day 2: Visit Beni Hassan & Tel El Amarna, Return to Cairo

  • Breakfast: Start your day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel.
  • Beni Hassan Tombs: Your tour guide will pick you up, and you will head to Beni Hassan Tombs, one of the most impressive burial sites from the Middle Kingdom. These tombs served as the resting places for the governors of El Minya during the 11th and 12th dynasties. Unlike most tombs, these were built on the east bank of the Nile and offer stunning views and fascinating art.
  • Lunch: After exploring the tombs, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Tel El Amarna: Next, visit Tel El Amarna, a hidden treasure on the Nile Valley. This site was founded by Pharaoh Akhenaton in 1363 BC as his new capital city. Akhenaton introduced a revolutionary religious system, worshipping a single god, Aten, the god of the sun. The site is known for its beautiful ruins and its historical significance in the religious transformation of ancient Egypt.
  • Return to Cairo: After your visit to Tel El Amarna, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
